DDR PATTERNS

Postby Exaroc » Tue Jun 27, 2017 2:52 pm

i made a complete list of all possible 4 note DDR patterns. then i stepped them all, and categorized them as how i step them.
R = RIGHT
L = LEFT
U = UP
D = DOWN

N = normal. one foot, other foot. normal stance kept.
F = footswitch. one foot does 2 or more notes on different arrows. other foot is held in position.
C = crossover. one foot does 2 or more notes on opposite arrows. other foot is held in position.
S = spin. either you spin your body, or you fall.

as you can see, alot of 4 note patterrns are normal to step with first right foot and difficult starting with first left foot, and vice versa.
i'd recommend doing all the steps yourself, as to train yourself and recognize the patterns and which foot to start the pattern with.
otherwise, this is also very usefull for making simfiles, as you have a idea what a nice stream is, and could also make techy songs.
i also made a template, for myself, to start a new song and just see a quick overview what i can add in my chart.

here it is, id recommend copy pasting it in a word(pad) file or make an excel chart so you can overview the amount of time you use a certain pattern:

Maybe the variations will come handy sometimes,
And you forgot the best one ;-)
